This project will investigate the breeding ecology and vocal behaviour of the Spotted Pardalote. Tasks will include assisting with trapping and banding birds, nest searching, recording vocalizations, nest vegetation data collection and setup/take down of cameras and RFID readers at the nest. Note: Field site: Brisbane Ranges National Park (near Geelong, VIC), departure from Deakin University, Waurn Ponds campus (day trips) or meeting at Steiglitz (VIC).
Requirements to participate
Interest in ornithology
Interest in behavioral and evolutionary ecology
Positive communication and teamwork skills
High motivation and willingness to work hard (workdays start early and can be long!)
Be comfortable walking off-trail in the Australian bush
Commitment to participate for several weeks over the field season (can be negotiated)
