Overview of Partners and Projects
too cool for school
Environment Education Victoria collaborated with RMIT, Overnewton Anglican Community College, St Augustine’s Primary School, and Brimbank Council to investigate climate adaption and biodiversity enhancement of school grounds in Melbourne’s west.
The research report from RMIT was funded through a Community Grant from Brimbank Council.
MOre trees for a Cooler greener west
Helping schools prepare for Climate Change through increasing urban tree cover.
Focusing on comfort and connection with nature - shady spots at lunch time, critters and birds to entertain curious minds, and cooler classrooms.
A collaborative project between EEV, local schools and the Victorian DEECA (Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action).
RESOURCESMART SCHOOLS
ResourceSmart Schools (RSS) Program is a free program designed and funded by Sustainability Victoria and delivered by a range of organisations across the state.
All primary and secondary schools in Victoria, including government, independent and Catholic schools can participate in the program.
Environment Education Victoria has been contracted by Sustainability Victoria to provide free support to all schools in the Western Metropolitan Region and the Barwon South West Region of Victoria.
THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN PLATYPUS SEARCH
Environment Education Victoria, the Victorian Government, Waterwatch, World Wide Fund for Nature Australia, the Ross Trust, Capricorn Foundation, and many others provided support and funding for the project, enabling it to be rolled out across Victoria during the 2021 platypus breeding season (August-November).
Gathering data from many sampling sites in a short period was challenging, so over 500 citizen scientists were engaged to collect data.
Guided by Environment Education Victoria (EEV), over 30 Victorian schools took part, collecting eDNA samples from waterways near their school to better understand one of Australia’s most elusive species.
HOBSONS BAY TEACHER ENVIRONMENT NETWORK (TEN) MEETINGS
EEV delivers these meetings every month on behalf of Hobsons Bay City Council.
Meetings are open to all early learning, primary and secondary school staff interested in embedding sustainability into their school community.
